Look Mexico

Formed in Tallahassee, Florida in 2004, Look Mexico emerged as a pivotal bridge between the 'twinkly' emo scene and the more technical world of math rock. Led by Matt Agrella, the band's sound is characterized by clean-tone guitar interplay, complex time signatures, and a rhythmic sophistication provided by drummer Josh Mikel.

Unlike many of their contemporaries who prioritized technicality over songcraft, Look Mexico maintained a strong pop sensibility, utilizing vocal harmonies and anthemic structures that earned them a following within the indie rock mainstream. A notable quirk of the band is their commitment to naming every song after a Vin Diesel quote, a conceptual choice that contrasts with their earnest, often melancholy lyrical themes.
