Nightride

Nightride is a pivotal project in Tinashe's discography, originally released as a digital-only surprise project while she was embroiled in creative conflicts with RCA Records over her intended second album, Joyride. While the label viewed it as a mixtape or a stop-gap release, Tinashe has since reclaimed it as her true second studio album and a more accurate representation of her artistic identity. Sonically, it is a departure from the brighter pop-leaning tracks of Aquarius, leaning heavily into 'PBR&B' and trap-soul influences. The album features production from heavyweights like Boi-1da, Vinylz, and Illangelo, yet maintains a cohesive, murky aesthetic throughout its 15 tracks. It is notable for its lack of guest features (the album version of 'Party Favors' notably removes Young Thug), placing the focus entirely on Tinashe's vocal arrangements and engineering.
