Released in late 2016, Nocturnal solidified Roy Woods' position as a key architect of the 'Toronto Sound' popularized by the OVO Sound imprint. Coming off the success of Waking at Dawn, this EP leans harder into the atmospheric, nocturnal textures suggested by its title. The project is notable for its concise seven-track run, which avoids filler in favor of a sustained mood. Featuring collaborations with Majid Jordan and MadeinTYO, the EP bridges the gap between moody R&B and melodic trap.
