Released in 2017 as a sequel to his 2014 COLOURS EP, this project solidified PARTYNEXTDOOR's role as the primary architect of the 'Toronto Sound' alongside producers like G. Ry and Neenyo. Spanning only four tracks, the EP is a concentrated dose of the hazy, trap-influenced R&B that defined the OVO Sound era. Unlike his more dancehall-leaning full-lengths, COLOURS 2 leans heavily into atmospheric downtempo and 'cloud R&B' textures. The project features a more refined use of vocal manipulation than his earlier work, using pitch-shifting not just as an effect but as a narrative tool to signify emotional distance.
