Released in late 2013, †Pllajë† (Albanian for 'plateau') serves as a bridge between JMSN's debut and his more traditional soul explorations. The album is characterized by its heavy use of tape saturation and a 'murky' sonic palette that distinguishes it from the cleaner R&B of the era. Christian Berishaj (JMSN) handled nearly all aspects of production, resulting in a singular, insular vision. The project is notable for its dense vocal arrangements, where dozens of vocal tracks are layered to create a choral effect that masks the lyrics in a wash of melody. Critically, it was seen as a refinement of the 'dark R&B' sound, moving away from the Weeknd-esque tropes toward something more organic and guitar-driven.
