High-flying melodic metal that reunites the architects of the genre. Triumphant vocals and twin-guitar precision for moments that require a victory lap.
Unisonic sounds like the golden age of European power metal polished to a mirror finish. It is music that reaches for the rafters, characterized by Michael Kiske's legendary, crystal-clear tenor and the interlocking guitar work of Kai Hansen and Mandy Meyer. The production is massive and modern, avoiding the muddy grit of thrash in favor of a bright, soaring sonic profile that feels both nostalgic and vital.
What makes them distinctive is the chemistry of a supergroup that actually functions as a cohesive unit. While many projects in this vein feel like remote collaborations, Unisonic captures the lightning-in-a-bottle energy of Helloween's peak years but filters it through a more mature, hard-rock-leaning sensibility. The songs are built on anthemic choruses and technical proficiency that never feels like showing off.
Start with their self-titled debut album. It serves as the definitive statement of their sound, particularly the title track 'Unisonic,' which perfectly encapsulates the band's mission: high-energy, melodic, and undeniably uplifting metal that celebrates the joy of the genre.
Unisonic was a German hard rock/power metal supergroup, founded on 10 November 2009 by Helloween singer Michael Kiske alongside Dennis Ward and Kosta Zafiriou from Pink Cream 69 and Mandy Meyer, formerly in Asia and Gotthard. In 2011 the band was joined by Gamma Ray leader and Helloween co-founder, Kai Hansen. The band released the EP Ignition and their first studio album Unisonic in 2012. The EP For The Kingdom and the second album Light of Dawn came out in 2014. Both studio albums have scored high entries in several international music charts. Unisonic is the first full studio collaboration between Kiske and Hansen since Helloween's albums Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part I (1987) and Part II (1988).
