SPRINTS emerged from Dublin's fertile post-punk scene in 2019, quickly distinguishing themselves through a blend of garage-punk ferocity and high-stakes emotional vulnerability. Led by songwriter Karla Chubb, the band's sound identity is defined by 'crank wave' energy: a relentless, driving rhythmic section paired with guitars that oscillate between intricate alt-rock textures and abrasive noise.
Their early EPs, 'Manifesto' and 'A Modern Job', established a critical consensus around their ability to marry political and personal frustration with infectious, cut-glass melodies. The 2024 debut 'Letter to Self' solidified their position as leaders of the modern Irish guitar boom, earning acclaim for its raw honesty and Daniel Fox's (Gilla Band) massive, immersive production. Despite lineup changes in 2024, including the departure of founding guitarist Colm O’Reilly, the band has continued to evolve toward a denser, more experimental sound on 'All That Is Over'. , but maintain a unique lane through their riot grrrl-influenced vocal intensity and focus on queer identity and neurodivergence.
