Poltergeist

Poltergeist is a foundational pillar of the Swiss thrash metal scene, emerging from the mid-80s under the moniker Carrion before evolving into their more technical identity. Their sound is characterized by a unique intersection of Teutonic thrash aggression and the melodic sensibilities of power metal, a blend that became more sophisticated as they progressed.

Their early work on Century Media Records placed them alongside the second wave of European thrash, though they distinguished themselves through superior technicality and the inclusion of progressive elements, particularly during the tenure of drummer Peter Haas. After a lengthy hiatus following 1993's 'Nothing Lasts Forever', the band's 2013 reformation saw them successfully modernize their sound without losing the analog grit of their roots.
