Intro

Magenta sounds like the intersection of a rain-slicked urban alleyway and a high-end digital laboratory. It is music that feels inherently nocturnal, built on a foundation of precise electronic rhythms and gritty industrial textures, yet elevated by Vilde Lockert's airy, almost angelic vocal delivery. The contrast between the mechanical rigidity of the production and the human vulnerability of the singing creates a tension that is both unsettling and beautiful.

What makes the band truly distinctive is the pedigree of founder Anders Odden. Bringing the dark sensibilities of the Norwegian black metal scene into a melodic, electronic context, he avoids the typical cliches of industrial rock. Instead of pure aggression, there is a sophisticated play with trip-hop grooves, trance-like synth loops, and cinematic soundscapes that feel like a lost soundtrack to a cyberpunk noir film.

New listeners should start with the album 'Art and Accidents'. It perfectly captures their ability to balance catchy, almost pop-leaning melodies with a dark, experimental edge. It is the ideal entry point for anyone who wants rock music that isn't afraid to embrace the cold, shimmering possibilities of electronic synthesis.

Magenta is an industrial rock/alternative rock band from Norway formed by Vilde Lockert and Anders Odden during the summer of 1995. They released their first EP, Magenta in 1997. The song "Secret Sky" entered the charts in Norway and established their career. Co-founder Anders Odden was already known in musical circles. He has been a member of bands like Cadaver and Celtic Frost. He is currently also the bassplayer for Satyricon, and guitarplayer for ORDER.
