High-voltage Montreal dance-punk that pairs razor-sharp bass grooves with jagged post-punk grit. Perfect for late nights when you need to move and think at the same time.
Choses Sauvages sounds like a neon-lit collision between the rhythmic discipline of 70s funk and the anxious energy of early 2000s dance-punk. Their music is anchored by incredibly tight, propulsive bass lines that demand physical movement, while shimmering synthesizers and staccato guitar stabs create a sense of urban urgency. It is sophisticated but raw, polished enough for a club but jagged enough for a DIY basement show.
What truly sets them apart is their evolution from a psych-pop outfit into a formidable post-punk machine. They utilize the French language not just for melody, but as a percussive element, with vocal deliveries that range from detached cool to desperate intensity. The production is dense and muscular, favoring a 'live in the room' energy that highlights their technical chemistry as a five-piece unit.
Start with their 2021 self-titled sophomore effort for a masterclass in modern groove, then dive into Choses Sauvages III to hear them sharpen their edges into something darker and more political. It is the ideal soundtrack for anyone who wants their indie rock to have a high BPM and a sharp brain.
