Supremacy

Released in 2006, Supremacy marked Hatebreed's debut and only outing on Roadrunner Records, a move that signaled their status as the kings of the mid-2000s metalcore boom. Sonically, the album is a refinement of the 'beatdown' style they pioneered, blending the speed of thrash metal with the ethics and song structures of New York Hardcore. The album is notable for its lyrical shift toward intense self-reflection and personal accountability, moving away from broader social critiques toward a philosophy of 'Supremacy of Self.' Produced by Zeuss, the record features a massive guitar tone that became a blueprint for the genre. It solidified Hatebreed's crossover appeal, reaching both the Ozzfest metal crowd and the Vans Warped Tour punk audience. Despite the major label backing, the band refused to incorporate clean vocals or radio-friendly hooks, instead doubling down on the aggression that defined their early career.
