Shogun

Released in 2008, Shogun represents the creative peak of Trivium's first decade, successfully synthesizing the metalcore energy of Ascendancy with the thrash traditionalism of The Crusade. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz, the album marked a significant technical shift with the adoption of seven-string guitars, allowing for a heavier, more complex sonic palette. Lyrically, the album departs from personal themes to explore mythological and historical narratives, primarily drawing from Greek tragedy and Japanese history.
