Quadra

Quadra is the fifteenth studio album by Sepultura and represents a creative peak for the Derrick Green-led era of the band. Released in 2020, it is a concept album structured around the 'Quadrivium' - the four subjects of liberal arts (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy). This mathematical foundation is reflected in the album's structure, divided into four groups of three tracks, each exploring a different facet of the band's sound. The first section focuses on pure thrash, the second on groove-oriented rhythms, the third on technical and instrumental mastery, and the fourth on melodic and symphonic experimentation. Critically, the album was hailed as a return to form, with particular praise directed at drummer Eloy Casagrande, whose performance is widely considered one of the best in modern metal. It successfully synthesizes the band's tribal roots with a sophisticated progressive metal sensibility.
