Party People

Released in 2007 on the Hysteria label, Party People serves as a foundational document for the Bingo Players and the broader Dutch electro-house scene. While the duo would later achieve global fame with hits like 'Cry (Just a Little)' and 'Get Up (Rattle)', this early EP showcases a more minimalist, tech-leaning sound. The production is characterized by 'dirty' textures and a focus on the 'groove' rather than the 'drop' structure that would later dominate the genre. The title track and 'Shake It' are quintessential examples of the 'Dutch House' sound of the era, utilizing high-pitched, squeaky lead synths and heavily processed vocal samples. Critically, the EP was a club success, gaining support from tastemakers like Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong. It represents the transition from the soulful house of the early 2000s into the more aggressive, synth-driven era of the late 2000s, marking Bingo Players as early innovators in the use of vocal-chopping as a primary melodic device.
