Perception EP

Released in May 2022, Perception EP marks a significant stylistic pivot for Nicky Romero, the Dutch producer synonymous with the 2010s 'EDM' boom. Moving away from the melodic progressive house that defined his early career, this EP explores tech-house and minimal techno influences. The project was part of a broader industry trend where mainstage artists began incorporating 'underground' sounds to suit a post-pandemic club landscape. Tracks like 'Pressure' and 'Work My Body' showcase a newfound focus on percussive complexity and stripped-back arrangements, utilizing sharp digital synths and driving low-end frequencies.
