Never, Neverland

Released in 1990, Never, Neverland is the sophomore effort from Canada's Annihilator and is widely considered a high-water mark for technical thrash metal. Following the success of Alice in Hell, mastermind Jeff Waters recruited vocalist Coburn Pharr, whose more melodic yet gritty delivery allowed the band to explore more complex song structures and accessible hooks without sacrificing their signature speed. The album is notable for its exceptionally clean production, a hallmark of Waters' approach, which eschewed the muddy distortion of the era for a crisp, 'dry' sound that highlighted the intricate guitar interplay.
