Witchmaster

Witchmaster is a cornerstone of the Polish blackened thrash scene, formed in 1996 as a more aggressive offshoot of the mystical black metal project Profanum. Their sound identity is defined by a synthesis of early Sodom and Bathory with the uncompromising intensity of the Polish death metal school.

Throughout their career, they have maintained a reputation for volatility, both in their music and their live performances, often described as 'gutter-runners' of the metal underground. The band has served as a revolving door for some of the most skilled musicians in the region, including members of Behemoth and Christ Agony, which has ensured a consistently high level of percussion-driven violence. Critically, they are respected for avoiding the 'retro-thrash' trend, instead delivering a sound that feels authentically dangerous and rooted in the primitive power of the 1980s. Their discography, spanning from the cult debut Violence & Blasphemy to later works like Kaźń, reflects a steadfast refusal to evolve toward commercial accessibility, cementing their status as a 'true metal' entity within the global extreme music landscape.
