Volumes emerged from Los Angeles in 2009 as a pivotal force in the 'djent' movement, a subgenre of progressive metalcore defined by high-gain, palm-muted, syncopated guitar riffs. Founded by guitarists Diego Farias and Daniel Braunstein, the band quickly distinguished themselves through a dual-vocalist setup and a focus on 'groove' over pure technicality.

Their debut album, 'Via' (2011), became a landmark release for the genre, reaching the top of digital metal charts and influencing a wave of rhythmic-focused metal acts. The band's history is marked by significant lineup shifts and the tragic passing of founding guitarist Diego Farias in 2020, yet they have maintained a consistent sonic identity centered around bassist Raad Soudani. Their evolution has seen them incorporate more melodic nu-metal influences and electronic textures, particularly on albums like 'Different Animals' and 'Happier?'
