Gritty, soulful Polish rock that balances stadium-sized anthems with intimate, rain-slicked ballads. Perfect for long drives and reflective late nights.
Urszula possesses a voice that feels like a well-worn leather jacket: tough, textured, and deeply familiar. Her sound occupies the sweet spot between the polished pop-rock of the 90s and the synth-heavy experimentation of the 80s. There is a persistent sense of longing in her melodies, even when the guitars are at their loudest and most defiant.
What truly sets her apart is the emotional weight she carries in her lower register, often breaking into a powerful, raspy belt that feels earned rather than performed. Her collaboration with Budka Suflera infused her work with a progressive rock sensibility, while her solo masterpieces like Biala Droga lean into a more grounded, alternative rock aesthetic that defined an era of Polish music.
Start with Biala Droga to hear her at her creative peak. It is an album that captures the transition from the grayness of the past into the vibrant, sometimes harsh light of the modern world, anchored by her unmistakable, smoky delivery.
