Intro

Ron's music is the sonic equivalent of a sun-drenched afternoon in a quiet Italian piazza. It carries a distinct warmth, rooted in the classic 'cantautore' tradition where the melody serves the story. His sound is characterized by rich acoustic guitar foundations, elegant piano flourishes, and a vocal delivery that feels like a trusted friend sharing a secret. There is a gentle, unhurried pace to his arrangements that allows the emotional weight of the lyrics to settle into the room.

What truly sets him apart is his ability to blend sophisticated pop craftsmanship with a deeply human, almost vulnerable intimacy. While many of his contemporaries leaned into the bombast of 80s production, Ron maintained a sense of organic texture, often favoring live-feeling instrumentation and nuanced vocal harmonies. His work with Lucio Dalla and Francesco De Gregori infused his solo output with a literary quality, making his songs feel like short films or well-worn novels.

For those new to his catalog, starting with the early 80s material like 'Una città per cantare' or 'Anima' is essential. These albums capture the perfect intersection of his folk-rock roots and his evolution into a master of the Italian pop ballad. It is music for people who value the craft of songwriting and the quiet power of a melody that stays with you long after the record stops spinning.

Rosalino Cellamare (born 13 August 1953), better known as Ron, is an Italian singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Dorno, province of Pavia, he debuted under his true name at the 1970 edition of the Sanremo Festival, together with Nada. In the following years he distinguished as songwriter for Lucio Dalla and others. After a period as actor, he returned collaborating with Dalla and De Gregori in their Banana Republic tour of 1979, and issuing the LPs Una città per cantare (1980) and Anima (1982). These were followed by Joe Temerario (1984) and Il mondo avrà una grande anima (1988). The song "Una città per cantare" is an Italian cover of "The Road", song Danny O'Keefe, with Italian lyrics are written by Lucio Dalla. In 1996, he won the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni", sung alongside Tosca, and in 2018 he won the Mia Martini critics award with "Almeno pensami", written by Dalla.
