Princess Superstar

High-energy electroclash and satirical hip-hop that feels like a neon-soaked night out. Snarky, stylish, and built for the loudest part of the party.

Intro

Princess Superstar sounds like the smartest, most chaotic person at the after-party. Her music is a high-velocity collision of early 2000s electroclash, boom-bap hip-hop, and indie rock grit. It is characterized by sharp, often hilarious lyrics delivered with a mix of deadpan cool and frantic energy, all riding over distorted synths and heavy, club-ready drum machine patterns.

What makes her truly distinctive is her 'flip-flop' philosophy, a fearless blending of genres that predated the hyperpop and genre-fluid movements of today. She occupies a unique space where satirical commentary on celebrity and gender meets genuine underground credibility, collaborating with everyone from Kool Keith to The Prodigy. Her tracks often feel like a collage of pop culture references and dancefloor aggression.

Start with 'Princess Superstar Is' or the 'Bad Babysitter' single to get a taste of her peak satirical era. For those who want the full club experience, the DJ Mason mash-up 'Perfect (Exceeder)' remains a definitive document of the mid-2000s electro house explosion.

Concetta Suzanne Kirschner (born February 25, 1971), better known as Princess Superstar, is an American rapper, singer and DJ. She has had two chart hits in the UK, the humorous song "Bad Babysitter", which reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in 2002, and "Perfect (Exceeder)", which reached number three in 2007. She has recorded with Moby, The Prodigy, Arthur Baker, Prince Paul, and Grandmaster Flash, amongst others. Her musical style, as she describes it, is "flip-flop"—a mixture of hip hop, electroclash and electronic. In summer 2014 she debuted her reality television show I Love Princess Superstar on her YouTube channel. In 2018 she released a children's record called These Are the Magic Days.
