Cool, swaggering rock that balances tough post-punk edges with shimmering pop melodies. Defiant vocals meet jangly guitars for a late-night urban energy.
Formed in Hereford in 1978, the British rock band The Pretenders established their alternative rock sound with founding members Chrissie Hynde, James Honeyman-Scott, Pete Farndon, and Martin Chambers. Despite significant lineup changes following the early deaths of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon, Hynde has remained the group's constant leader. The band achieved lasting commercial success with numerous hits and earned an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
