Intro

Listening to Ne Obliviscaris is like watching a master painter work on a canvas the size of a city block. It is music of immense scale, where the ferocity of black and death metal is not just balanced by, but integrated with, the grace of a concert hall. The presence of a prominent violin isn't a gimmick; it is the melodic heart of the band, often leading the charge through dizzying time signatures and lush, atmospheric passages.

What truly sets them apart is the interplay between the two vocalists. You have the guttural, cavernous growls of Xenoyr clashing and then harmonizing with Tim Charles's soaring, crystal-clear tenor. This vocal duality, combined with some of the most technical fretless bass work in modern metal, creates a sound that feels three-dimensional. It is aggressive enough to satisfy purists but sophisticated enough to appeal to fans of complex jazz or romantic-era classical music.

Start with the album 'Portal of I' to witness their foundational brilliance, or dive into 'Citadel' for a more streamlined, yet equally explosive, introduction. Their songs are long, often exceeding the ten-minute mark, but they earn every second through masterful tension and release. This is music for when you want to be completely consumed by a soundscape.

Ne Obliviscaris (Latin for "forget not"; Clan Campbell motto) is a six-piece Australian progressive metal band from Melbourne.
