Narco

Narco is a seminal Spanish rap metal band formed in 1996 in the working-class La Macarena district of Seville. They emerged as a leading voice in the 'Andaluz' metal scene, distinguishing themselves through a potent mix of thrash-influenced guitars, hip-hop vocal delivery, and electronic sampling.

Their career is marked by a consistent defiance of authority and a lyrical preoccupation with the 'psicotrópico' (psychotropic) lifestyle, drug trade, and anti-clericalism. After a hiatus in the mid-2000s, they returned with 'Alita de mosca' (2010), which revitalized their career and cemented their status as legends of the Spanish heavy scene. Their later work, particularly 'Espichufrenia', saw them incorporating more aggressive electronic and breakbeat influences, moving them closer to an industrial-rap hybrid. Critically, they are respected for their uncompromising stance and their ability to evolve their sound without losing the street-level grit that defined their early releases like 'Talego pon pon'. They remain a fixture of major Spanish festivals, bridging the gap between metalheads, punks, and hip-hop fans.
