Mono No Aware

Mono No Aware is the long-running rhythmic noise project of German producer Leif Künzel, established in 1995. A cornerstone of the influential Hands Productions label, the project helped define the 'power noise' subgenre by blending the abrasive textures of industrial noise with the structured, four-to-the-floor momentum of techno.

The project's name, a Japanese term for the pathos of transience, provides a philosophical contrast to the music's harsh, mechanical exterior. Throughout a prolific discography including standout albums like Kitanai Yatsu and Kikai No Sekai, Künzel has maintained a signature sound characterized by distorted percussion, high-frequency interference, and a lack of traditional melodic elements.
