Formed in Phoenix in 1980, Meat Puppets are an influential American alternative rock band. Featuring guitarist and vocalist Curt Kirkwood, the group evolved from their punk roots to develop a distinct sound that incorporates elements of country and psychedelic rock. After releasing music through SST Records, the band achieved widespread recognition by performing as guest musicians during Nirvana's notable 1993 MTV Unplugged appearance, cementing their legacy within the alternative music scene.
