Leyya

Leyya is an Austrian duo consisting of Sophie Lindinger and Marco Kleebauer, emerging from the vibrant Vienna electronic scene of the mid-2010s. Their sound identity is defined by a sophisticated blend of trip-hop foundations, synth-pop melodies, and avant-garde art-pop structures.

Kleebauer's production is noted for its 'dry' aesthetic, favoring crisp, immediate sounds over heavy reverb, which gives the music a tactile, physical quality. Lindinger's songwriting often explores themes of social anxiety, self-doubt, and the friction of modern life, delivered through a vocal style that ranges from ethereal to deadpan. They gained international traction with their debut LP 'Spanish Disco' and solidified their critical standing with 'Sauna', which won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award. They occupy a unique space between the accessible indie-pop of contemporaries like Cari Cari and the more experimental electronic textures of ÄTNA. Their evolution has seen them move from more traditional trip-hop influences toward a fragmented, highly rhythmic pop sound that remains influential within the European 'Viennese School' of modern electronic music.
