Killer

Killer is a foundational pillar of the Belgian heavy metal scene, formed in 1979 during the height of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal influence. Often dubbed 'The Belgian Motörhead' due to their power-trio lineup and aggressive, speed-oriented sound, the band was the first signing to the legendary Mausoleum Records.

Their early 1980s output, specifically 'Ready for Hell' and 'Wall of Sound', helped define the European speed metal aesthetic by blending traditional hard rock structures with increased velocity and a darker, more metallic edge. Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, founding guitarist/vocalist Shorty has maintained the band's identity as a purveyor of 'Belgian Steel.' Their influence is most felt within the underground speed and thrash metal communities, where they are respected for their uncompromising adherence to traditional metal values. Critically, they are viewed as a cult classic act that bridged the gap between 70s hard rock and the extreme metal explosion of the mid-80s.
