Iron Age

Iron Age is a seminal force in the 21st-century crossover revival, originating from Austin, Texas. Formed in 2004, the band is centered around the creative partnership of vocalist Jason Tarpey and guitarist Wade Allison.

Their sound is a sophisticated but brutal synthesis of 1980s New York Hardcore (specifically Cro-Mags and Leeway) and Bay Area thrash metal. They are credited with revitalizing the Texas hardcore scene, paving the way for bands like Power Trip. Their career arc moved from the pure crossover aggression of 'Constant Struggle' toward a more psychedelic and doom-influenced metallic sound on 'The Sleeping Eye'. Critically, they are lauded for Allison's exceptional lead guitar work, which elevated them above standard hardcore tropes.
