Slick, high-gloss synth-pop with a sharp political edge. Soulful vocals meet industrial funk for a sound that is both danceable and intellectually biting.
Formed in Sheffield in 1980, Heaven 17 is a British synth-pop group originally consisting of Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh, and Glenn Gregory. The band gained significant critical and commercial recognition through their early eighties albums released via EMI. Although they functioned as a studio-only project for years, the act eventually began performing live in 1997. Following Marsh's departure in 2006, Gregory and Ware have continued the project as a duo.
