Fueled by Fire

Fueled by Fire is a cornerstone of the early 2000s New Wave of Thrash Metal (NWOTM) movement. Formed in Los Angeles in 2001, they emerged alongside peers like Bonded by Blood and Violator to reclaim the aesthetic and sonic hallmarks of 1980s Bay Area thrash.

Their sound is a direct lineage from Exodus, Slayer, and Testament, characterized by high-speed alternate picking, frantic soloing, and lyrics centered on metal subculture, social decay, and mortality. Their debut, 'Spread the Fire', became a cult classic for its uncompromising 'old-school' stance, including a famous stance against 'posers' and glam metal. Over their career, they have transitioned from the bright, high-velocity speed of their debut to a more muscular, death-influenced thrash sound on later releases like 'Trapped in Perdition'. Critically, they are respected for their technical proficiency and for maintaining the 'thrash' spirit without succumbing to over-production. They remain a vital link between the original 80s pioneers and the modern underground metal scene.
