Fire!

Fire! is a Swedish powerhouse trio consisting of Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin.

Formed in 2009, the group represents a pivotal bridge between the European free jazz tradition and the aesthetics of noise rock, krautrock, and psychedelic music. Gustafsson, a titan of the avant-garde, brings a physical, often violent approach to the saxophone, while Berthling and Werliin provide a rhythm section characterized by hypnotic, motorik repetition rather than traditional jazz fluidity. Their career is marked by high-profile collaborations with experimental luminaries like Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi, which has further cemented their status in the global avant-garde scene.
