Dreamtale

Formed in 1999 in Tampere, Finland, Dreamtale emerged as a key player in the second wave of Finnish power metal, following in the footsteps of pioneers like Stratovarius and Nightwish. Founded by guitarist Rami Keränen, the band quickly gained international traction, particularly in Japan, which became a primary market for their melodic, synth-heavy brand of metal.

Their early career was marked by a revolving door of high-profile vocalists, including Jarkko Ahola and even guest appearances by Marco Hietala, which helped cement their credibility within the Nordic scene. Their sound is characterized by high-tempo 'galloping' rhythms, neoclassical keyboard flourishes, and lyrical themes rooted in fantasy, inner strength, and storytelling. Despite numerous lineup changes, Keränen has maintained a consistent aesthetic of 'Beyond Reality' - a commitment to escapist, triumphant music that avoids the darker tropes of the genre. Critically, they are viewed as a reliable pillar of the EUPM (European Power Metal) style, prized by collectors for their early 2000s output on Spinefarm Records.
