Intro

Clock Opera creates music that feels like a meticulously constructed clockwork heart. It is art-pop that breathes through the machinery of found-sound sampling, where the clink of a glass or the slam of a door becomes a rhythmic backbone for soaring, emotive melodies. The sound is simultaneously brittle and lush, capturing the nervous energy of modern urban life while maintaining a deep, soulful core that prevents it from feeling cold or purely academic.

What truly sets them apart is Guy Connelly’s approach to production. He treats every sound as a potential instrument, chopping and stitching mundane audio into vibrant, syncopated tapestries. This 'chopped' aesthetic extends to the vocals, which often stutter and repeat in a way that mimics the glitchy nature of memory and thought, all while anchored by a traditional indie rock quartet's power.

Start with 'Ways to Forget' to hear their most cohesive vision of this sound. It is an album that rewards close listening, revealing new layers of micro-sampling with every spin. It is the perfect companion for those moments when you want music that is as intellectually stimulating as it is emotionally resonant.

Clock Opera were a British indie rock band based in London. Formed in 2009 by singer, guitarist and sampler Guy Connelly, the quartet also comprised Andy West on bass and guitar, Che Albrighton on drums, and Dan Armstrong on keyboards and vocals. Their singles include "Belongings" and "Once and for All," and their debut album Ways to Forget was released on 23 April 2012. Guy Connelly also does remixes for other artists under the name Clock Opera.
