Cerberus

Cerberus is a Los Angeles-based metal outfit formed in 2000, emerging from a local scene of junior high school friends. Their sound identity is rooted in the intersection of melodic death metal and thrash, a style that gained significant traction in the mid-2000s US underground.

After several demos, the addition of vocalist John Guettler solidified their sonic direction, moving toward a more professional and 'brutal' aesthetic. Their 2005 debut, 'The Cage of Existence,' and the subsequent EP 'What Have We Become?' (2006) represent their peak creative output, characterized by the production work of Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios. Ohren's involvement links them to the broader 'Bay Area' sound of the time, alongside peers like All Shall Perish. Critically, they were viewed as a promising bridge between traditional thrash and the burgeoning extreme metal scenes of the West Coast.
