High-octane melodic death metal fused with the swagger of glam and the grit of hardcore. Aggressive, groove-heavy anthems for the front row of the pit.
Baptized in Blood delivers a high-voltage collision of styles that feels like a victory lap through the history of heavy music. They take the technical precision of Swedish melodic death metal and inject it with the raw, unpolished energy of the Canadian hardcore scene. The result is a sound that is undeniably heavy but possesses a surprising amount of rock and roll swagger, making it as catchy as it is crushing.
What sets them apart is their ability to balance intricate guitar harmonies with massive, groove-oriented hooks. While many of their contemporaries lean into either pure technicality or mindless aggression, this band finds a middle ground where thrash-inspired speed meets anthemic choruses. There is a certain 'glam' influence hidden in the distortion, manifesting as a sense of showmanship and rhythmic bounce that keeps the songs from feeling overly grim.
If you are new to the band, their self-titled Roadrunner debut is the definitive starting point. It captures their peak energy and polished production, showcasing their ability to write songs that are tailor-made for massive festival stages. It is the kind of music that demands high volume and total physical engagement.
Baptized in Blood was a five-piece London, Ontario-based heavy metal band. They were managed by Dave Mustaine, the frontman of American thrash metal band Megadeth. In 2006, they independently released the EP Baptized in Blood. In 2009, they independently released the album Gutterbound. That led to their being signed to Roadrunner Records, in December 2009. They stayed with Roadrunner for three years, releasing one album, also called Baptized in Blood. In 2021, Cursed Blessing Records re-released Gutterbound. From 2009 through 2011, Baptized in Blood toured the US and Europe. They supported Fear Before on their final Canadian tour in August and September 2009. They played several European festivals, including the 2011 Download Festival. Their last concert was at Heavy T.O. 2011.
