Boogie Belgique creates a sonic bridge between the gramophone era and the modern bedroom studio. The music feels like a sepia-toned film discovered in an attic, cleaned up just enough to reveal sharp, punchy hip-hop rhythms underneath the crackle. It is defined by a heavy sense of nostalgia, using brass swells and ghostly vocal snippets from the 1930s and 40s to create an atmosphere that is both cozy and slightly haunting.
What sets this project apart is the meticulous layering of texture. While many electro-swing artists lean into high-energy dancefloor kitsch, Oswald Cromheecke favors the 'swing-hop' approach, where the tempo is slowed down to a head-nodding trip-hop pace. The drums are thick and saturated, providing a grounded contrast to the airy, ethereal jazz loops that float through the mix like smoke in a dimly lit club.
