Hyper-creative electronic music built from found sounds and modular synthesis. A restless, high-fidelity exploration of what happens when anything can be an instrument.
Andrew Huang's music feels like a high-definition tour through a mad scientist's laboratory where every beaker and wire has been tuned to a perfect C-sharp. It is incredibly bright, rhythmically dense, and possesses a digital sparkle that suggests a deep obsession with the physics of sound. While it often sits in the electronic realm, there is a tactile, physical quality to the percussion that betrays its origins in real-world objects, from denim jeans to kitchen utensils.
What truly distinguishes Huang is his restless curiosity. He doesn't just write songs; he solves musical puzzles. You can hear the 'what if' in every track: what if this techno beat was made entirely of water splashes? What if this pop song used a modular synth to generate its own melody? This intellectual playfulness prevents the music from feeling cold, even when the production is at its most clinical and precise.
Start with 'Alabaster' for a cohesive look at his ability to blend sophisticated IDM textures with accessible melodic sensibilities. If you want to hear his more experimental, object-based side, dive into his 'FX' series or 'Bass Horns' to hear how he manipulates organic sounds into futuristic soundscapes.
