High-octane instrumental rock that swaps post-rock gloom for mathy, triumphant energy. Interlocking guitars and celebratory group chants for moments of pure momentum.
This is instrumental music that refuses to be background noise. While many of their peers in the post-rock scene lean into slow-burn melancholy and cinematic swells, And So I Watch You From Afar operates at a much higher frequency. Their sound is a caffeinated explosion of interlocking guitar lines, frantic but precise drumming, and a sense of genuine, unadulterated joy. It feels less like a film score and more like a victory lap.
What truly sets them apart is the 'math' in their rock. They utilize complex time signatures and jagged, staccato riffs, but they never lose the hook. There is a communal, almost tribal quality to their work, especially when the band breaks into wordless, shouted group vocals that invite the listener to join in. It is technical proficiency served with a massive grin, balancing heavy distortion with shimmering, crystalline melodies.
For the uninitiated, their self-titled debut is the place to start for raw, punk-infused energy. If you want something more polished and kaleidoscopic, head straight to 'All Hail Bright Futures.' It is the definitive document of their ability to turn complex instrumental music into something that feels like a summer festival anthem.
