Adestria was a prominent fixture in the San Diego metalcore scene during the early 2010s, a period defined by the 'trancecore' and melodic metalcore explosion. Their sound identity is built on a foundation of technical proficiency, characterized by intricate guitar leads and a high-fidelity production style that emphasizes clarity in the mix despite the density of the arrangements.

Unlike many of their contemporaries who used electronics for simple dance-pop crossovers, Adestria utilized keys and synths to add a symphonic, dark-hued atmosphere reminiscent of European melodic death metal. Their career arc is most notably defined by their 2012 release, Chapters, a concept album where each track is based on a different work of literature. This elevated them within the scene, earning critical respect for their lyrical ambition.
