Trilogy

Released in 1986, Trilogy is Yngwie Malmsteen's third studio album and arguably his most polished work of the decade. Following the success of Rising Force and Marching Out, this album saw Malmsteen taking on bass duties himself while recruiting vocalist Mark Boals. The record is historically notable for being dedicated to the memory of Olof Palme, the Swedish Prime Minister assassinated earlier that year. Sonically, it refined the 'neoclassical' subgenre Malmsteen pioneered, integrating Moog Taurus pedals and sophisticated keyboard arrangements by Jens Johansson. The album reached #44 on the Billboard 200, a significant feat for such a technically demanding metal record.
