The album is most famous for its opening track, 'Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts,' a 28-minute progressive metal odyssey based on Homer's Iliad. This track alone distinguishes the album from its predecessors, moving the band into more complex, multi-movement songwriting structures that included extended drum and bass solos. Despite the experimental length of the opener, the rest of the album contains more traditional power metal tracks like 'Ride the Dragon' and 'Metal Warriors.' The album was well-received by the band's core fanbase and remains a cult classic for its uncompromising length and thematic ambition.
