The Chaos

Released in 2010, The Chaos represents The Futureheads at their most muscular and technically demanding. Following the more melodic and radio-friendly This Is Not the World, the band returned to their own Nul Records label to produce a work that recaptured the angularity of their debut while adding a heavier, more aggressive sonic palette. The album is characterized by its 'math-punk' structures - songs like 'Struck Dumb' and 'The Connector' feature interlocking guitar parts that require immense precision. Critically, the album was seen as a return to form, with NME and BBC Music praising the band's ability to maintain their signature vocal harmonies while increasing the intensity of their instrumentation.
