Starve for the Devil

Released in 2010, Starve for the Devil is the fourth studio album by Arsis and stands as one of the most polarizing yet technically impressive entries in their discography. Following the darker, more experimental We Are the Nightmare, this album saw James Malone leaning into his love for 80s rock and roll and glam metal, infusing the band's melodic death metal foundation with a 'rock' swagger. This is most evident on the opening track 'Forced to Rock.' The album features the return of original drummer Mike Van Dyne, whose precise percussion provides a stable anchor for the neoclassical guitar heroics of Malone and Nick Cordle. Produced by Chris 'Zeuss' Harris, the record boasts a very high-fidelity, compressed sound that emphasizes clarity over atmosphere.
