Road

Road represents a significant shift in Alice Cooper's recording methodology. While his previous work with producer Bob Ezrin often leaned into maximalist, highly orchestrated 'Grand Guignol' theater, Road was conceived as a showcase for his long-standing touring band. Recorded live in the studio with minimal overdubs, the album features the triple-guitar threat of Nita Strauss, Ryan Roxie, and Tommy Henriksen. This 'no-frills' approach results in a more organic, garage-rock sound reminiscent of the original Alice Cooper Group's early 70s output. Thematically, it is a loose concept album exploring the mythology and reality of life on tour, ranging from humorous anecdotes like 'Big Boots' to the more reflective '100 More Miles'. The inclusion of a cover of The Who's 'Magic Bus' serves as a thematic bookend to the journey.
