Crowning of Atlantis

Released in 1999, Crowning of Atlantis was originally intended as an EP to support the Vovin tour but expanded into a full-length release. It serves as a bridge between the band's breakthrough symphonic sound and their more complex later works. The album is notable for its eclectic tracklist, featuring three new studio tracks, several covers (including Loudness and Manowar), and live recordings that showcase the band's ability to translate their dense studio arrangements to the stage. This release solidified Christofer Johnsson's shift away from death metal toward a purely symphonic, operatic metal style. The inclusion of 'Clavicula Nox' - a track that would become a staple of their repertoire - highlights the band's focus on occult themes and sophisticated song structures.
