Clash the Truth

Released in 2013 on Captured Tracks, Clash the Truth represents a pivotal transition for Beach Fossils. Moving away from the solo bedroom-recording project of the debut, Dustin Payseur collaborated with drummer Tommy Gardner to create a more aggressive, rhythm-centric sound. The recording process emphasized a 'live' feel, resulting in a sharper, more percussive aesthetic that leans heavily into post-punk influences like The Wake or early New Order. Critics, including AllMusic, noted the increased maturity in songwriting and the successful integration of more abrasive textures without losing the band's core melodic sensibility.
