Provisional · Last updated June 2026
Cassette is in a small private alpha. This describes what we actually do with your data today. It is provisional and will be reviewed and updated before we open more widely. If a practice changes, this page changes with it.
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we use it to run your account and keep it secure, and we do not sell it or feed it to advertisers.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the waitlist or create an account.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We never see or store the password itself.
- Google sign-in details, if you choose to sign in with Google: the account identifier and basic profile (name, email, avatar) that Google shares. We do not get your Google password.
- Basic technical data, such as your IP address and request logs, which we use to keep you signed in, enforce rate limits, and protect the service from abuse.
- Your library and preferences, once the player is available and you choose to use it, so your collection follows you.
How we use it
- To run your account and sign you in.
- To send the email the service depends on: verification codes, password resets, your one waitlist invite, and account notices.
- To keep the service secure and working.
What we do not do
- No behavioral advertising, ever.
- No selling or renting your data or taste profile to anyone.
- No third-party ad trackers. If we add privacy-friendly analytics later, we will say so here first.
Cookies
We use a single cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Who else touches your data
A few services help us run Cassette. They process your data only to do their job, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
- Resend delivers our email.
- Our database and hosting providers store the data that makes your account work and serve the site.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, and waitlist entries until you ask us to remove them. To see, export, or delete your data, email support@cassette.digital and we will take care of it. You can delete your account at any time the same way.
Children
Cassette is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
