Formed in Irvine, California, in 2004, Young the Giant is an American alternative rock band. Originally performing as the Jakes, the group features Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley, Eric Cannata, Payam Doostzadeh, and Francois Comtois. After signing with Roadrunner Records in 2009, they released their self-titled debut album the following year. The band achieved early success with three singles, including "My Body" and "Cough Syrup," reaching the US Alternative Songs chart.
