Witchrider

Formed in Graz, Austria, in 2012, Witchrider emerged from the European stoner rock scene with a sound heavily indebted to the 'Desert Sessions' aesthetic but filtered through a darker, more alternative lens. Originally named Desert Mountain, the band rebranded to Witchrider to better reflect the psychological intensity of their music, specifically referencing the phenomenon of sleep paralysis.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'heavy-pop' dichotomy: the instrumentation utilizes the low-end grit and repetitive, hypnotic grooves of desert rock, while the vocal arrangements favor melodic accessibility and emotional vulnerability.
